Mission & Aims

Vision

Our Vision statement describes what it is we are striving to achieve:

A society made up of sustainable communities which are vibrant, healthy and safe, which respect the local and global environment and where individuals and enterprise prosper.

This vision is shared by all parts of the Groundwork Federation. It is a statement which describes the concept of sustainable development; where social, environmental and economic issues are balanced and integrated.

Whilst being an organisation with a strong commitment to the environment, we also believe that environmental challenges can only be ultimately resolved in the context of society's needs as a whole through a concurrent commitment to sustainable development

Mission

Our Mission statement describes how we intend to bring our vision to fruition; it is the organisation's purpose:

We will act as a catalyst for change by inspiring and supporting individuals and organisations to take local action to care for the local and global environment and improve our communities.

We will champion the concept of sustainable development and particularly promote the inclusion of environmental factors in all decision-making to find sustainable solutions to society's needs.

Strategic Aims

These Strategic Aims expand upon our Mission, further defining GWLLs main purpose:

- To reduce Leicester and Leicestershires impact on climate change, primarily by reducing energy use and increasing the generation of renewable energy.

- To educate individuals and organisations about local and global environmental issues and to promote solutions to these challenges.

- To improve environmental sustainability locally by minimising waste and pollution, enhancing wildlife habitats and promoting the sustainable use of water, energy and resources.

- To create opportunities for people to learn new skills and become more active citizens through environmental activity.

- To create jobs, develop new enterprise and increase prosperity through environmental activity.

- To help communities create cleaner, safer, greener neighbourhoods and increase their engagement with open spaces.

- To develop and maintain GWLL as an organisation that is strong and effective, adheres to its agreed values and is recognised as a leader in its field.
