Formerly known as Environ, Groundwork Leicester & Leicestershire is an independent charity and member of the national organisation, Groundwork UK. We provide information, advice and practical help to encourage individuals and organisations to take practical steps towards a more sustainable future.

10,000 Trees Campaign

Leicester has around 20,000 trees in public spaces including streets, parks and cemeteries. The aim of the project is to plant an additional 10,000 and increase the existing stock by 50% over 3 years.

The City Council is looking for suggestions and views as to the best planting sites for the new trees. Help is needed from the public to identify suitable locations and to give ideas of the types of trees they would like to see planted.

National Allotments Week 11-17th August

Next month we will be celebrating National Allotments Week. The week aims to promote the awareness and availability of allotment, both locally and nationally, and to show the strenghth of support and interest for the heritage of of allotment culture.

There will be allotment open days throughout Leicester City for you to pop in, talk to allotment holders, view plots and buy produce on sale.

Extended Summer Opening Hours at the EcoHouse

Due to popular demand we have extended our opening hours at the EcoHouse for the school summer holidays.

From 21st July to 31st August, the EcoHouse will be open as follows:-

Opening Times:
Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur, Fri: 2pm - 5pm
Sat, Sun: 10am - 5pm
